Dance Through History is a group of historical dance companies, with unique performaces suitable for any school, festival, celebration, or reenactment event. Dancers in costumes of the 16th thru 20th century are accompanied by musicians playing historical instruments recreate the historical period of your choice. Explore the long forgotten French colonial roots of Michigan. Understand the important part played by Louis XIV and his beaver hats. Meet the explorers, voyageurs, adventurers who ventured here. Our Reenactment emphasizes the important role of native French women in Michigan History.

Harriet Berg, Founder and artistic director / choreographer Detroit's leading dance historian, Harriet Berg has performed and lectured over the past 40 years in the United States, Canada, and France. She has worked with leading authorities of historical dance to recreate these authentic period performances. In awarding her the "Chevalier Des Artes et Des Letres" in 1989, Minister of culture Jack Lang recognized Mrs. Berg's contributions to French-american relations.

Mrs. Berg is a founder of the michigan Dance Archives housed at the Walter Reuther Library of Urban Affairs. In 2007, Mrs. Berg. the Wayne County Council of the Arts History award for dedication and excellence in using the Arts to illuminate history.
